 Community and the
Environment
Boomerang Books is committed to the principles of the 'triple bottom
line' in business and seeks to achieve economic, social and
environmental outcomes - not just economic outcomes.
We do this through a number of initiatives:
Charity of the Month.
Boomerang Books donates money each month to a selected
Australian charity.
Member
of the Australian Made Retail Supporter Program.
Boomerang Books is a member of the Australian Made Retail Supporter
program. For more than 20 years, the Australian Made, Australian
Grown Campaign has been helping consumers to exercise their preference
for buying Australian, and promoting Australian products in Australia
and increasingly also in export markets. The famous green and gold trade
mark was launched in 1986.
Support for the Indigenous Literacy Project.
Having set a
target of $100,000 in donations for 2007, the Indigenous Literacy
Project exceeded its expectations by raising over $179,000 for
indigenous literacy. This money will be dedicated to purchasing books
and literacy resources for a host of Aboriginal communities across
Australia. Boomerang Books is proud to be involved with this very important
initiative and has again pledged its support for this year's Indigenous
Literacy Day, which falls on Wednesday 3 September 2008.
Member
of the Australian Booksellers Association.
Boomerang Books is a proud and active member of the industry body for
booksellers in Australia, the Australian Booksellers Association (ABA).
Support for the Australian book industry and Australian
Publishers.
At a time when most
booksellers are fighting to curb the impact of Amazon and Borders,
Boomerang Books represents an Australian online bookstore that showcases
Australian book titles first and foremost, and publishes Australian book
content. We have recently launched an
Australian Publisher Support
Program to help Australian publishers sell more Australian books.
Universal book discounting.
Boomerang Books encourages
Australians to read by providing regular opportunities to purchase
discounted books across our entire range. We discount much of our
catalogue - not just the mass produced paperbacks that are sold as 'loss
leaders' in the discount department stores.
